The Gateway Centre of Excellence in Rural Health Celebrated White Paper Day and their Donor Appreciation Event last Friday at the Comfort Inn in Goderich.
Gateway Project Lead and Research Assistant Amy Sturgeon says they decided to celebrate the two events together. The White Paper Day is an opportunity to thank their research assistants and their summer students for the work they've done, and the Donor Appreciation Event is a chance to show the donors what they get back for the funding they provide to Gateway.

Avon Maitland District School Board Helps Families Prepare For Back To School

It's hard to believe it's that time of year again, but it's here, and schools in the Avon Maitland District School Board are busy preparing to welcome students for another exciting year!
The first day for students in grades 1 to 12 will be Wednesday, September 4, as Tuesday is a professional day for staff. Kindergarten students will stagger their first day on either Wednesday, Thursday or Friday, and that will be organized by each school.

Huron Perth Public Health (HPPH) is reminding residents to protect themselves against mosquito bites after mosquitoes collected from traps in Stratford and southern Huron County tested positive for West Nile virus (WNV).

Western Ontario Wardens' Caucus Chair and Huron County Warden, Glen McNeil, says this year's AMO Conference in Ottawa was an amazing event.
McNeil says there were more than 3,300 participants there, making it the largest AMO Conference they've ever had, and that was because there is currently so much interest among the municipalities. McNeil says he was involved in two delegations on behalf of his municipality of A-C-W, a delegation with the town of Goderich regarding health care in Huron County, and seven delegations, not only on behalf of Huron County but also WOWC with different ministers. Avon Maitland District School Board Welcomes New Superintendent
The Avon Maitland District School Board is pleased to welcome Riley Culhane as he assumes the position of Superintendent of Education.
Riley begins his official appointment on September 1st and has been appointed the lead for the K to 12 Program Department. Riley brings 11 years of senior leadership experience to AMDSB having most recently served with the Thames Valley District School Board. He also worked as an elementary school administrator and educator. Prior to joining TVDSB in 2000 Riley worked as a Speech-Language Pathologist and Child and Youth Worker.
Riley is passionate about collaborating with all interest groups to ensure that students are provided with the necessary tools and resources to pursue their goals. He is looking forward to joining the AMDSB team.
