The decision for the price increase is based on ensuring sustainability, and to better align the discount level with that recommended in the Feasibility Study. Mills says Huron Shores Area Transit's Monthly Pass will still be the most economical of all its neighbouring small rural transit systems. Fare pricing is”

Huron Shores Area Transit Acknowledges Rotary Club Donation For Bus Shelters
by Bob Montgomery
Earlier this week Huron Shores Area Transit (HSAT) publicly thanked the Rotary Club of Grand Bend for their donation that helped make the transit system’s first three bus shelters possible.
Transit Coordinator, Susan Mills, says the cost of installing three bus shelters at the bus hub beside Sobeys in Grand Bend and at Points Plaza and Army Camp Road at Kettle & Stony Point First Nation was partially offset by a $6,500 donation from the Rotary Club. In 2023, HSAT acquired eight used bus shelters from Stratford Transit. Over the fall and winter, the shelters were refurbished and painted a medium royal blue colour consistent with HSAT’s branding. The bus shelters are accessible, with an…

A Lot Of Wind But No Rain For Saturday's Celtic Roots Festival In Goderich
by Bob Montgomery
Rory Makem was born in Ireland and moved to New Hampshire, in the United States, in 1972.
He says he been hearing good things about the Celtic Festival in Goderich for several years and he's been clamouring to perform at the Festival, and this year he was finally invited. He says it's a thrill to be here and it has far exceeded his expectations. “For me, the people make the place and this is a very special place.”
Maken says the experience as a performer is quite unique as well, starting with teaching at the Celtic College and being billeted with local families. “You're really immersed in the community and the audiences here are still very in touch with the music and the folk cultures that are represented here. It makes me very proud to be among the artists here.”
Maken says if he's invited to come back next year he'll not only be here, he'll arrive early.
The Celtic Roots Festival continues until 5:30 on Sunday. It's located behind the Park House Restaurant on West Street. Just follow the signs. More information can be found on the Celtic Festival website.
