Huron County Museum and Cultural Programs Invite Input on Their New Strategic Plan

The Huron County Museum and Cultural Programs are developing a new strategic plan and they're looking for input from the public.

Kinectrics Supports Wingham & District Hospital Foundation’s Caring Together Campaign

Kinectrics Inc has pledged to donate $75,000 over the next three years to support the Caring Together Campaign, a community-based fundraiser for the purchase of a CT scanner for the Wingham & District Hospital.

The Caring Together campaign goal is to raise $2.5 million to advance digital imaging and offer best practices for patient care. On March 7th, Kinectrics’ John D’Angelo and Nancy MacDonald Exel visited the Wingham & District Hospital and had the opportunity to speak to key members of the organization about the importance of implementing this vital service at the hospital, as well as current funding priorities…

Huron Shores Area Transit Launching Smart Card Library Pass Program

Huron Shores Area Transit is launching a new Smart Card Library Pass Program today.

Huron Shores Transit Coordinator Susan Mills says they were inspired by a couple of neighbouring rural transit systems who had started using a library pass to encourage people to use their system and they thought it was a good idea. “We contacted our local library systems, Lambton County, Huron County, North Middlesex and the Kettle & Stony Point First Nation and asked them if they'd be interested in joining in the program and they were all very interested. So we've developed a Smart Card Library Pass that any local holder of a library card can borrow at their local library for up to five days and that provides them with unlimited free rides on all of our four routes…

Fanshawe College Open House Set to Highlight Local Post-Secondary Programming

Fanshawe College is hosting their Spring Open House on Saturday, March 23rd at the Reach Centre in Clinton.

Local Source Water Protection Committee Opposes Provincial Recommended Phase Out of Free Well Water Testing

A proposal by the province to phase out free well water testing is meeting opposition from Source Water Protection Committees.

Matt Pearson is the Chair of the Ausable Bayfield Maitland Valley Source Protection Committee. He explains the Auditor-General's Office has recommended that the Public Health Office gradually phase out their free testing of well water throughout the province. Huron Perth Public Health Reminding Parents to Update Their Child’s Immunization Records

Huron Perth Public Health is reminding parents to update their child's immunization records to avoid school suspensions.

Nearly 2900 records remain incomplete, down from the initial 5100. These students are either missing immunizations required for school attendance, their immunizations have not been reported to public health, or they do not have a valid exemption on file. Students with incomplete immunization records may be suspended from school under the Immunization of School Pupils Act.

Avon Maitland District School Board Hosts Local Skills Ontario Competition

The Listowel District Secondary School hosted the Avon Maitland District School Board skills competition on March 6, welcoming seven students from four secondary schools. The event, featuring competitions in Welding and Team of 2 Carpentry, was the first time the Avon Maitland Board had organized a local competition of this nature.

The Pro Hockey Heroes Face-off Against the Central Huron Firefighters This Saturday March 16 (Last Night)

The Pro Hockey Heroes will take on the Central Huron Firefighters this Saturday night in Clinton.

The event is a fundraiser to raise money for nursing care at the Huron Hospice in Central Huron. Christopher Walker is the Manager of Fund Development for the Hospice. Emergency Management Coordinators Learn About Flood Forecasting and Warning at ABCA’s Annual Flood Emergency Planning Meeting

The Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority hosted its annual Flood Emergency Planning Meeting earlier this month. Deadline Approaching for South Huron Community Fund Grant Applications

The Chair of the South Huron Community Fund says they're calling on all community champions to submit their grant applications now. 

Tom Prout says the deadline for grant applications is April 1st and they don't want any deserving projects to miss out. Prout says the Sunset Community Foundation is the latest version of what used to be the Grand Bend Foundation and now takes in all of Huron County as well as Lambton Shores and North Middlesex. Their goal is to provide community groups in that entire area with the opportunity to apply for grants or for people within that community who have a family fund or a legacy fund and provide funds which then would be used for grants
